The Boathouse Boutique: Lake Vibes and Local Charm and Three Locations

If you love the local lakes and are looking for a gift for yourself or for someone else, the Boathouse Boutique may just be for you. With three locations strategically located close to Lake James, Lake Gage, and Clear Lake, Boathouse Boutique shops offer women’s boutique clothing, lake clothing for men and women, jewelry, accessories, local art, and home décor. Each location has a focus for its products, a unique vibe, and is open year-round. If you’re new to driving around Steuben County’s lake areas, you should know that your first time can seem like an adventure, meandering through winding roads lined with homes built along our lakes.

The Clear Lake location in Fremont is the largest location. It’s vibe is comfortable and home like. It contains most of Boathouse Boutique’s clothing lines as well as products specifically for Clear Lake, Coldwater Lake, Little Long Lake and a couple of the smaller lakes in that area.

The Lake Gage location will hold a little bit of everything with a focus on Lake Gage, Barton Lake, and Lake Pleasant. This is the smallest location, but it is a beautiful drive around Lake Gage.

Boathouse Boutique’s newest location near Lake James will have products for Lake James, Crooked Lake, Snow Lake, Jimmerson Lake, Hamilton Lake, Big and Little Otter Lakes, Turkey Lake, and Lake George. This location is planned to be open six days a week. The location’s area is known as the “Four Corners”, referring to the intersection of North 300 West and North Bay View Road/Lane 101 Jimmerson Lake. It’s the point where Jimmerson Lake and Lake James meet. This is a popular area for locals and visitors alike for places to eat.

A young entrepreneur, owner Alivia Colclasure started her business as a summer job during her senior year of college, majoring in entrepreneurial management. She was looking for an internship but wanted to be at the lake. Luckily her uncle had a space on Clear Lake that he allowed her to use to sell to local lake residents and visitors. Her business grew to three locations over the past 6 years.

Product quality and customer service are important for Colclasure. She tries to create a fun atmosphere at each location and she makes sure that her lake tees and sweatshirts “don’t fall apart after a few washes”, which may be why they are her best-selling products. Many of the brands that Boathouse Boutiques carry donate to causes like clean water initiatives, cancer foundations, service dog foundations, and others. She loves finding brands that donate to causes that she cares about.
