As the weather starts to warm up, we’re all eager to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Now that the cold winter months are over, find something fun for the whole family to do this weekend in Steuben County, Indiana. Here are some ideas to satisfy your craving for adventure!

Heritage Hoedown

 

Bring the entire family out to Heritage Hoedown on Friday, April 23, from 6 to 10 p.m. at STAR Public Transportation Barn. This event will include food, live music, raffle prizes, bonfires, hay wagon rides, kid’s activities, professional face painting and much more. The menu includes pulled pork BBQ and ice cream provided by Scoops. Ticket prices are $25 per person or $70 for the entire family and are available for purchase here.

 

Local Wineries

 

Visit some local wineries and breweries this spring in Steuben County, including Satek Winery. Satek Winery has won more than 100 medals at the annual Indy International Wine Competition, including Wine of the Year and Indiana-grown American Wine of the Year. Satek specializes in dry white, dry red, semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet fruit and sweet dessert wines. Stop in for wine tasting seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

 

Golf Courses

 

Golf is a great activity to pursue this spring to get out and enjoy the sunshine! Choose from one of our several golf courses including Cold Springs Resort, Glendarin Hills, Hidden Valley, and Zollner Golf Course. Golf is a great way to get out, get some exercise, and stay healthy!

 

Camping

 

Take your family camping and enjoy time outdoors! We have many great campgrounds to choose from in Steuben County. One great campsite is Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park which includes a beach, 18 cabins and cottages, electrical sites, showers, water hookup, boat rentals, pool, planned activities, camp store, playground, tent camping, water slides, three pools, and splash playground. It’s the perfect place to go camping this spring!

 

Trails

 

Hike, bike, or walk the local trails in Steuben County as the weather warms up. Steuben County’s multipurpose trail is a great trail to hike which winds through Steuben County and Pokagon State Park.

 

Bird Watching

 

Enjoy bird watching at Pokagon State Park’s Nature Center. Sit in front of the Woodland Window and watch as woodpeckers, cardinals, blue jays, nuthatches, finches, and more come to eat. Squirrels, chipmunks, and even deer will also pass through. Or join us on Sunday morning on a naturalist lead bird hike.
