POKAGON STATE PARK IS A TOP PLACE TO GO TOBOGGANING
Are you and your family looking for a unique winter activity? Look no further than Pokagon State Park! With a 1,780-foot refrigerated toboggan, it’s no surprise that Pokagon State Park is a popular destination not just among families with children, but also outdoors enthusiasts and visitors alike. So get ready to buckle up—it’s time to have some snow-filled fun at Pokagon State Park. The toboggan run, located near Angola, Indiana, offers an unforgettable experience for those ready for some thrills. With its 30-foot tower featuring dips and valleys, plus a 90-foot vertical drop spread over a quarter-mile in length, it’s no wonder that this toboggan run sees about 90,000 riders every season. Even if there’s no snow, no worries! The track itself is refrigerated so there’s no need for snow. However, do keep in mind that the run does close if the temperature drops below zero. The run at Pokagon State Park is open to the public on select days throughout the winter months and has extended hours during winter break. It’s also open during several of the winter holidays including New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Presidents Day. Ready to ride, View the holiday and break schedule here. The park is less than 200 miles from Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit and Toledo. The run is located on the east side of the park and is open from 10 am to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays Nov. 24, 2023-Feb. 25, 2024. The cost is $20 per hour and each toboggan holds up to four riders. You must use the park’s toboggan. There is also an entrance fee to the park of $7 per Indiana vehicle or $9 per out-of-state vehicle. Just remember to get there early, because sleds are rented on a first-come, first-served basis.
General information
- Gloves must be worn to ride the toboggan.
- Refrigerated track (snow is not needed to operate).
- Toboggan will close if the air temperature drops to 0 degrees F or below at the track.
- Warming Center restrooms are open, and concessions are available. No indoor gathering space is available.
- No carry-in food to the Warming Center. Carry-in items are allowed in the area outside the rental room. Picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tailgating is allowed. in the lower toboggan parking lot only.
- Maximum 4 people per toboggan (no exceptions).
- Must use parks toboggans.
- Children must be able to understand and follow rules.
- No cameras/video equipment on the ride.
