For women who enjoy hiking, Pokagon State Park hosts a monthly women’s hike that takes hikers through various areas of the beautiful Angola park.

“The women’s hike was started to give like-minded hikers the chance to get together as a group and experience the trails Pokagon State Park has to offer,” said Aimee Wentworth, the interpretive naturalist. “Often times there are friend groups that gather for the hikes and other times, new friends are made on the trails.”

The hikes are typically held the third Sunday of the month and begin at 1 p.m. The distance varies, depending on trail conditions and weather. Most are two to four miles in length. Hikers are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.

Regardless of your level of experience, all women are welcome to join in! The normal gate fee of $9 per Indiana vehicle or $15 for those out of state will be charged if you don’t have an Indiana state parks pass. No pre-registration is required.
